Some people may say this should be your second but hey, hitting a cow on a rainy day when you are driving insanely slow doesn't count as one and moreover I wasn't hurt then. Leaving that aside, as I have a reason for almost everything I have one for this too. I was speeding as I saw the green turn yellow where I usually take the right turn and there was an accent on the left lane which was parked or so I thought which upon realizing the yellow, almost like someone pushed a thrust button, changed gears and tried to turn to the right by coming into the right lane where I was happily accelerating. I panicked (not my trait) as its almost into my way and I just applied whatever got in my mind, the brakes that is. I slipped and fell. This is common. It happens.

Now the lady from the car to open the door and ask "You fell all by yourself. No?" Thats uncommon. Its more uncommon than anything else that could be uncommon. Here is someone on the road dusting himself checking the bruises and all you could muster is a question reflecting your innocence in what has happened! I laughed with all the pain.

The good thing is I got away with what could be a serious one with just a scratch on my hand. I still can't believe I got away with such a small injury.
The reason this happend is that somehow nature wanted to make sure I know I am still not 'that' perfect. So much for the arrogance!

Lovely article about the famous defence we 'had'.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/arsenal/article2462721.ece

Wenger needs to get his magic hat out and procure someone in the league of the fabulous four. To be caught in different minds while filling up self-performance sheet. I mean why should we do when it is our superiors who should do the performance measuring. I just don’t get it. I have to mark myself as in how I performed the task that was given to me which would always be: I did the best. Nah it can’t be like that, they say, you are supposed to be pragmatic in filling it up. What the heck does that mean? I am good at whatever I do, I say with a smile. Do you want it to be relative and if so I am not the one who should be doing it instead, you should be evaluating us. They would have none of it. It is the process, they answer. I know when to keep quiet. So, how do you fill it up?

This is going to be a real problem especially if you are working in the IT. What you do is code and may be test it and then you fix the bugs(if any). Oh! we prepare docs too. Now the code you 'write' might be a very good job done from the perspective of your boss while you think its just a small task which is being given unnecessary prominence. When its time for the self-appraisal as they call it, you cannot be pretty sure about what your boss thinks about that job you did in the last month. So you might go with a lower grade and he actually who thinks it to be genuinely good job would be surprised to see yourself grading it less and might alter his opinion just because you don’t think that was your best job or dangerously leave it as you graded without a second thought and am sure the latter happens the most. And the next criteria which you graded high might be scaled down to a lower grade as your boss shares a different view. All get together and you are in deep s**t. You might actually go with grading best for all the criteria and the idea itself is really sympathetic as everyone knew very well that it cannot be true especially in a company as huge as ours. No one is going to do all the jobs in the project and hence you can be sure your testing is inferior to the person next to you whose main job is that while yours is documentation. Don’t ask me how can one portray something good in his appraisal if documentation is the only job in his 4 month project time. That is irrelevant. Anyway I digress. Show something you did under each criteria and grade it, they say. So if you attend certain lectures irrelevant to your project or even to your domain it is not going to matter. Mention it and everything that you did under the sun and yes even the two lines script that you copied from Unix forum to do a simple task would do. Sigh!

During my school days we used to have a teacher who used to give tests and then ask us to change the sheets with others and correct them. Who in his right frame of mind in this world would do that, I used to think(no morals and ethics), and now looking at the big corporate doing it I am going to take it with a pinch of salt when they say they are going to use the statistics.Throw some ‘A’s and some lower grades to compensate as to show that you actually care for the process and truly doesn’t think it to be another frivolous task. Yes that would do and that is what I did. Now I await my manager’s opinion. I would say he would better go with it. Who wants another hour of unnecessary argument rather fight.

what a day in the IPL. The crowd is dull and so are the commentators. Mandira Bedi! Why God why? Isn't it enough we have Arun Lal, Ravi and Gavaskar with their tracer bullets and cool cucumbers! Why on earth do we need her? For the stammering or the carbon copy of mayanti lancer's dress sense? And the rain is almost a certain not that I blame Modi for that. Yuvi probably hates it much now that his team has lost twice as the games have been reduced over efforts. 6 overs! Even in our galli we used to look down on those who played less than 8 overs a match and we are talking about something called a global game(cue: Modi)!! As of now I feel its not worth bunking office and definitely not worthy of sacrificing sleep. Ahh you get the gist.

PS: Harsha Bhogle on SET MAX!!! Did I change? I am sure I did. Not that I noticed much of it till my plus two. It went unnoticed by me. The first time I observed something different was in my second year of engineering when my long time friends met and I just couldn't get to be myself among the group. It might be because of the different atmospheres everyone was in at that time but I could see the difference by a mile as in how suffocating it was. And when my school class teacher pointed out that I changed a lot since we last met. After that, I was conscious of the changes albeit inadvertently. There might be something about me that has been changed which I didn't know and still don't but I can say it would be in the minority because, if I didn't, there is always my grandma to point out everything and I believe her except for one when she says I have become thinner.
That’s impossible. Simply out of question!

But from last year something has been changed unconsciously. I just didn't know; that's until now.

I am averse to any kind of change that might happen to me or to anyone (anything) surrounding me in the past few months. I just want everything to continue to be as it is, not like the world being still for ever but something in similar lines with the earth rotating and everyone aging. Call it routine if you will. I like that. I dreaded to change the pattern of what I do on my weekends, what I do in the office, the way I work, the people I talk with, the channels I watch, the phone calls I make.. everything everything.. even the sleep. I was never like this. I am not saying I am not much of a sleep person but timing is a bit too much. Not that I was an outgoing person before but never this reluctant to change or meet people and talk to people. I previously used to say NO to almost everything only to say Yes a few seconds later. But now I just say NO to almost everything. Be it the extra work that my boss wants me to do or the weekend they want me work for support or the little amount of cricket, colleagues want to me to join in or the trip my roommate loves to go on or the new place to dine in or the idea of catching the new movie. Everything goes with a firm NO these days. Okay the movies might be exempted as everything is crap these days. But the rest... people stopped asking me now. And worst, I ould find reasons to say NO. Valid or invalid doesn't matter as long as I wanna say NO.

This wasn't like any other time where my grandma points out my abnormal behaviour or the change she saw in me and I laugh it off. Something new, that I recognized the hard way. For the first time in my life I missed home. I felt alone. For the first time I guess. Until now, I never missed home!!! Both my parents work and me living without them around me was not a seldom occurrence and I never missed them. I stayed for almost one and half year in the college not going home. I was never homesick. And I never felt alone. Ever! That wasn't me. So I thought but this time it was different. Something has changed.
I wanted to talk to someone so bad that I browsed through my phonebook only not to call anyone. Not even home. May be that’s what you get once you leave the comforts of the college. Not the bed, food and shelter but the other: Friends. I thought so. May be four years of stay after all made me feel like this. But no, not even that. I didn't want to go meet them even when I had a chance; chances if I tried a little hard. That is when I realised I kind of grew out of talking to others, caring for others in one way or the other (call it socialization?) and started living a lonely life some time back, of which I was completely unaware of. And I watched a season of desperate house wives!!!!! That should have been the final nail in the coffin but it wasn't.

I figure out, since my initial finding of changes associated with our lives, changes exist in life and phases too which fade out as quickly as they come or stay for a while lingering that extra moment to exasperate you. I really hope this is just a phase in my life. And not a sure shot change. That would be truly dreadful.

I got a call from the BSNL Engineer asking me whether I would be available at 11.30 AM tomorrow so that he could send someone to give us a new connection

After kicking myself to make sure it isn't a dream, I hurrahed only to see someone from the other project wondering what the hell happened to the silent guy!! If if if if Federer's backhand, at any stage of the match, matched the same of his previous year it would have been another runners up trophy in Nadal's trophy cabinet and Borg's record would no be more. Alas it didn't.

And did I mention I hate it. I am no fan of Nadal but he is one of the best athletes I have ever seen. Federer would play an outrageous cross court short opening up the complete court and yet Nadal covers whole length of the pitch. Mind you even after 4 hours 40 minutes, he was doing the same. He would have played another three sets if asked to. Such is his stamina.

I am no astrologer but is this the end to Federer's era? May be. His forehand is of course out of this world and his serve is the best. 29 aces! But he is making lots and lots of unforced errors these days. His back hand isn't what it was. And when he faces Nadal, am I the only one who feels like there is a bit of mental pressure? Its sounds odd for a five time champion. I want him to comeback strong. Love to see him lifting the US Open trophy. Let us see.
The game is changing. I love Federer's game for his great technical ability but when its between Sampras and him its always the former. There is no serve and volley game in Federer's that I like. Now its Nadal who is much much much more reliant on the physical fitness than technical abilities and I hate that. May be that's the reason I cheered for Federer. Next time I would be rooting for Federer yet again. This time around I hope he doesn't get it wrong.

I waited for Borg's record to be broken and here I am not knowing how many years it might take. May be decades!

PS: I made a good decision not to watch the Asia cup as we made ourselves look like complete fools not chasing 273 on that pitch!!!! Mind you, on that pitch!!! Who ever is singing the name of mendis, I found his bowling way too normal and its the erratic shot selection by us that handed over the wickets and the win. So its 18 finals that we lost. No wonder there though.

Yesterday everything went wrong, I was talking about my predictions. I thought Kimmi would win, India would thrash SriLanka and arrogantly thought I would be pleased seeing Federer hammer Nadal.

When I look back at yesterday's events, I look like a total schmuck.
Hamilton dominated the race completing it almost 69 sec's ahead of others.
Jayasurya thrashed us.
Federer fought fought and fought only to loose the battle to a well deserving champion, Nadal: Take a bow!

Cricket now-a-days

Asia Cup pitches are a joke. How I wish the referees in the football games to be robots that will makes decisions with at least some precision and won’t make decisions based on the atmosphere surrounding them. How, how on earth can that be a fucking penalty!!!
Anyway, it had to be the gooners on the losing side. We are already told that, some may say, but I will say the better team just didn’t win. It didn’t. Not because they couldn’t but because of sheer injustice on the field. Simply they were outclassed by the officials letting Liverpool play with one another extra man. He was clearly caught by dhoni of dada's bowling on 17! 50/3 before lunch and that would have definitely been worse for Australia then.

Shitty Arguments and yet I hope our team would fight to comeback as the Aussies are wrongly poised in an absolutely good position in this second test.

Dravid get your batting straight please please..

Those swinging behaviors and moods

Shame! isn't it? They, so coldly, said it’s going to be delayed further when I clearly mentioned that I am in need of that more than anything else, more than the urge to toss this tie that surrounds my neck as a snake; highly uncomfortable. They say the load isn’t yet delivered as it’s having a field trip from Haryana and they actually don’t have the truck driver’s number to confirm where the load is.
Don’t give me that Bull! I couldn’t convey the same to ‘them’ and I blame my lack of knowledge in Kannada and theirs in English as the option of Hind is chalked out as both knew the same Hindi and I am not so fluent with the rough words. Now I am left out to mouth certain abuses at imaginary them, in my mind.

Secondly, I stay in my friend’s room instead of going around Mysore to watch Arsenal beating the hell out of Boro and what I get is to watch us playing like shit. I never ever watched them play so bad and would never ever want them to play like that from now on. I was so disappointed and dejected last night. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Is it the England team on the pitch? Nah, reality strikes and it’s Arsenal who lost vital lead and I am dumbstruck.

Thirdly, I get to my cubicle to get some papers and return back to my room and instead of doing what I wanted to do end up logging in and the computer ask to change the password for security reasons as if I was given access to something highly confidential, if there is any! All I get to have is nothing in the hard disk which can be stolen in computer science sense. Why do I need to change my password every few days is beyond my imagination!
Anyway, I end up spending twenty minutes to find a new password. It says: You are not using all the secure measures given in the password tips and there I was banging my head all over to find a password which I can actually remember and isn’t in the list of my previous 12 passwords. Can you believe it? Twelve previous passwords! To do a ‘Asim benerjee’, how did they decide the number to be twelve? Huh!

Fourthly, I get a call from my roommate to buy toothpaste while coming back to the room and he specifies it to be ‘Pepsodent’. Ok. I get to the lift door in the third floor and press the down button. I see first lift resting in the second floor and the second in -2 which is moving up. The first never stops resting and the moving one starts moving so slow that I keep on smashing the button, not that it makes the lift move fast but... it’s simply unexplainable. Those of you who spotted me at that moment... don’t panic. Nothing is wrong with me as of now and I assure you there is no need of moving me to an asylum. The second one actually went up to the fifth floor and then while coming down stopped to pick me up. All this while, the first was still resting. Kudos to whoever designed that system!

Finally, I get to the dhobi to get my clothes back and he shouts at me saying washing and ironing clothes take one week time and tomorrow will be that day. Me to myself: ‘Oops! Wrong time. He is having an off day!’ Yours truly walks down to the loyal world to find no toothpaste.

Last but not the least, I reach the room to find it dark and deserted to find out the loss of power only in our house while the whole locality is beaming with lights shining. After all these, I didn’t find anything better than to spend the whole night fighting mosquitoes and cool breeze. To think in those terms, silly me! Of course I was wrong. The water! You don’t have power; you can’t pump water into the tank.

Hahahaha . Someone up there is having a laugh.

“Who is having an off day?” I retrospect.

The Prince

I thought
He lost his touch and timing.
He is no more a potential candidate to be in the one day team and also the test team for obvious reasons.
He should give up his effort to come back into the team and pave way for the youngsters.
He should retire and start coaching; his commanding abilities are always there even when he was going through the rough patch of his career.
He will never be back into the team after he lost his place in the side.
He is back in to the test team but he definitely has no comeback into the one day team; too much talent pool on hand to keep him out.

Being his ardent fan, I wished I was wrong in the first place but I never ever dreamt it to become true. So, get used to that from now’ and continued to explain additions and subtractions while asking us to return back by the next day solving ∫ (x²y²/x²+y²).

And as I aged I never understood why people started to say what I was used to hear frequently but now in a slightly different way. ‘Listen, you are no more a kid. No one will teach you as you were taught in the school. You have to start learning by yourself’, the professors didn’t know we were trained before hand to handle such situations, while they continued explaining what a grid is and why we use grid asking us to explore how to use a grid.

As I aged further enough to be an employee, they decide I need to be trained and was forced to sit in a class being taught by a senior who simply opens up a word document and goes on scrolling down the document reading between the lines and decides to leave the presentation room after sometime saying ‘Listen, you are not kids. You know that. Look into this document and if you don’t understand you can get back to me. All the fans of the bowling team would be hoping for something great to happen such as Malinga's 4 wicket haul in straight four deliveries. That should have made Smith spill the coffee all over his trouser. What an incredible bowling! The ball was just less than an inch away from the off stump of peterson, if it wasn't for the lady luck, South Africa could have been in danger of another exit from the world cup keeping in mind they have lost the two points which they could carry from the league stage. Personally I don't rate (I know it doesn't matter) malinga as a good bowler. But his recent performances in India and the world cup make me think otherwise. His full length deliveries at such a speed are a delight to watch, of course when the batsmen struggle. Srilanka might have a chance to win this cup if at all Jayasurya finds his grip back again.

PS: For all those who say cricket is something boring, you should have been there at that moment while peterson was batting and you could sense the adrenaline pumping. That particular chance sadly and shamefully depends on a small nation some where in the North Atlantic Ocean, Bermuda. We the billion people are forced to watch a league match between two minnows hoping the 'elite eleven' who stumbled under pressure and bowled out for a mere 185 would somehow show fighting spirit in the next stage if at all they are allowed to play for which they have to thank Bermuda. I hope that never happens. We don't deserve to be there. Even if we would be there, it would be more disheartening to see teams like Australia, South Africa and New Zealand thrash us; I cant endure that pain, that heart breaking moments, that sadness I witnessed on the faces of my fellow students yesterday, all that bull shit yet again.

Fuck everyone who points the statistics. We have the three finest batsmen in the world averaging above 55 in the world cups along with four batsmen (batsmen meaning they can actually bat?) and we couldn't chase 255. All we need was singles and we were hapless. Couldn't find the gaps hence went for big ones and ultimately for the glory.

Bowlers were good. Not good enough to contain the opposition for a much lesser total. Why cannot we nail the tailenders the same way as our tailenders give up their wickets to any other cricket playing nation. (needn't even be a test cricket playing nation). It would have been great if the other players supported the bowlers with what they can do on the field. The extras by the bowlers and the runs left in the field by the fielders (everyone even yuvraj) were disastrous. Lankan's too couldn't find the gaps but still found the singles. Hit straight at the fielder and still run. Such is the confidence on our fielders. In the end 255 is not 355. It is so easy a target as a penalty kick. It should have been a cakewalk if its not the pressure that took away the hopes of a billion people with a disgusted look on the players faces. Yes they definitely felt bad for themselves and for India. I don't understand, why the pressure? What happens in the dressing room? Why didn't they feel good about the target while they got a whooping 413 the other day? Everywhere I go today I hear everyone discussing the match and the future of the cricket team. So much for the Cricket Fever and leave the WorldCup, we are not even in the second stage!!!

'I take full responsibility for the fact that we haven't progressed to the next round' -- Dravid.
Don't Mr.Dravid. Don't. Why do the captain himself be responsible for the 'team' defeat. Why make the captains life a hell? Every one is responsible. Every fucking person in the team along with the physio who couldn't get the fitness of the players right, the coach who couldn't get everything right, the players who couldn't do their jobs right, and the media which hypes every single thing... every one is responsible for the worst ever display of the game.

The fielding and the running between wickets was worse. Leave the seniors who conveniently chose the senior ship as a cause not to talk about their lack of ability to field well and run well, but even the youngsters like uthappa, zaheer and Munaf were not able to create an impact in the field.Even Yuvraj showed the signs of a bad fielder during the match. We played just two matches and see the fitness levels of the players. Dammit we are playing the world cup!!!!

How much we say and brood over it, its not going to matter, but what the players feel about the loss is something that can be the future of the team. Will they take it as normal as we students take studies or are they really serious? People started talking about the players being normal and would be signing new contracts with the ad agencies after a week and forget the worldcup07. Do they? They are humans, they are Indians. They feel the disappointment and they feel the humiliation too. Some seniors who are at the peak of their careers would never wish such an end to their career even in their dreams. That doesn't mean they should carry on as they were and are; They did a lot to Indian cricket, had glorious times which were acclaimed by every Indian and they were the saviours 'then'. Now they are the demons. Irony! Their future does depend on what happened since few weeks, they should be able to respect the hard decisions that must be taken and this should be the right time.
Isn't it?

Master Selector

The TV room was with people shouting for a boundary to be hit or a wicket to fall. Them watching TV today is quite surprising, India isn't playing today, and quite apalling too for the fact that they did manage to get their ass-glued-to-chairs and eyes-sticken-to-computers out of the rooms!! Some were chanting the name of Dhaniram while someothers came up with some other name which I heard for the first time. I couldn't make head and tail out of anything. Whats happening? Is it because of the Indian defeat that damaged their brains or is Cricket really becoming that interesting all of a sudden!! I dont think, they think its something for which they can give up CounterStrike, AOE or watching Friends. And as my small brain fights to reason out the abnormal behaviour of fellow daiictians, my friend enlightens me about the super selector. The highest total ever made in the worldcup history, as a matter of fact, its the highest total in indian international cricketing history. For those who say its just minnows we have outplayed, let me clear something, we have been outplayed by the so called minnows a couple of days back and by the way, we played the 'minnows' many a times in the recent past but passing the 400 mark is something we have done it for the first time. Thanks to the wonderful knocks by Sehwag, Sachin, Yuvi and partly Dada.

Why the hell we have to a bare a loss for getting all fired up to outplay others? Am bored of watching games where we fight back taking a backstep in the early stages. Recently even my favourite club Arsenal because of which I developed the love towards football started playing similarly. They go a goal down only to fight back playing their normal beautiful flowing football. Ahh I hate it.

Everything seems to be alright with the runrate going up. Yuvi and Sachin getting to bat and infact hitting over the rope for maximum a lot many times. Sehwag getting his grip back and Dada still playing the anchor role good. Uthappa was looking good but yet again fell for a good catch. It was deliberate shot from him pushing the ball into nearly the second slip but aah what a catch from the heaviest man in the present world of cricket, the 120 kg Leverock. Sliding towards his right and puff comes the ball into his hand. Uthappa, how much unhappy he might be, has yet again fell for a good catch.
There are many aspects, god forbid , which may be looked down by the management. Sehwag still looked shaky during the early stages trying to hit the ball pitching outside offstump. Beware we are going to play one of the finest bowlers we have in this era - Chaminda Vaas and Murali. It will not be so easy for sehwag to carry on if he is going to go after every delivery during the early stages. The ball will be moving both away and into him. We know how much problem the inswinging ball has created. There will always be a huge gap between his bat and pad whatever the press and the cricket pundits say. There would also be no foot movement.Never expect that from him. Its the way he plays and will be playing in the future. You cannot change that. Players like Sehwag, Ganguly and Sattagopan Ramesh depend a lot on timing rather than footwork unlike dravid and sachin. The gap, which many bowlers recently capitalized by an inswinger and ultimately gaining his wicket is due to the lack of confidence which didnt allow him to bring the bat in line of the ball in exact time which he used to do so easily when he is 'normal'. He should thank Dravid for being so generous and having confidence in him. It would have been a disaster if he had edged any one of those few first deliveries he faced yesterday. I would love to watch him play a similar innings in the next match getting 'much' better than what he did yesterday.

Ganguly looked out of touch during his loooong stay at the crease. He took his time but its amazing to see him being troubled to find the gaps for singles(leave the boundaries) playing the balls coming at nearly 110-120 kmph. I never expected that from someone with such caliber. He again trusted his natural and favourite shot of coming down the pitch and lofting over the fielders for most of his score. What happened to the God of offside as once described by Dravid. He is not driving the ball. He is tapping the ball into the hands of fielders similar to Adebeyor tapping the footbal back into the net. He should be aware of being that slow and unable to drive the ball can be disastrous while playing the bigger teams. I dont see the fire in him i was used to see and love. He isnt talking much on the field as he used to do. Looks completely concentrated on batting sticking to the wicket. It might do some good if yuvi and sachin fires up.

What to write about this young and elegant Yuvraj Singh? He smashed the ball over the midwicket for the maximum as if the boundary is some inches away from him. Let me tell you, this is a big ground and he made the shots look so simple. Incredible stuff!! We can sit there for a whole day admiring his shots. They are very limited but its the way he uses them so efficiently to score at a rapid rate that people love watching him bat. He should be doing wonders if we are into the futher stages.

Dhoni was looking strong until that marvelous catch taken by Tucker. I couldnt believe my eyes. He positioned himself very well under the ball and didnt allow the ball to spill down his hands. What a catch to end Dhonis innings. Sachin was great. His maximums over the covers and fineleg were simply superb. I hope him to continue this form as we get into the final stages of this WC and then later on we can start talking about the 2011. Dravid turning the final delivery into a maximum helped us equal the maximum number of sixers in a limited over international. Good.

Nothing much to say about bowling attack. Agarkar was usually bad. He should be dropped for god sake. I used to believe he can play at that level but after this match I dont think so. He should be playing the ranjis forever if at all he wants to play cricket. Zaheer had a wonderful spell so is Munaf. I loved the first over of Zaheer. 5 outsingers and one inswinger. Bang on! Clean bowled. Good for us. Munaf was unlucky though. Kumble proved how dangerous he can be for the right handers. Its as expected from him to get those wickets. Would have a played a vital role in the bangladesh match if he had been in the final eleven. Bermuda's Hemp played a very good innings with all the experience from the county cricket. Bowlers struggled against him especially Agarkar. (By struggling i meant they were now where in getting his wicket. Nothing new they tried to seize him.) I expcet fielding levels to notch up a bit which can find us a spot in the super 8's.

Bottomline: Good match. Boostup for indians making the fans go silent for sometime alteast. Hated Dravid again for his lack of captaincy skills. How much I wish to see other person making the bowling changes rather he handingover the ball to the bowlers. Why didnt he bring sehwag early while the left handed players were playing? Kumble is not that good against lefties. Someone hit Dravids brain with a ball so that he starts thinking for the sake of India. Anyway we got what we required - the netrunrate going up.

Hoo Haa India

Disclaimer: People frightened by the length skip the post and see the bottomline which phrases every misery happened today.

Sounds BS to me. Doesn't it? I might still expect a No from someone who is on a train and had the fabulous opportunity to miss the match between the mighty tigers of India, Ladeega toh Jeetega, and the socalled minnows in the form of 'team' Bangladesh. Its good that Dravid got the pitch report wrong, may be he was busy giving autographs to ladies and has no quality time to spend over it. Its very fine that kumble was on the 'bench'. Its very very fine that Sehwag is still opening. Its better that Dinesh Karthik who played a fine innings in the last few days is not in the final eleven. Despite all the fineness, someone please explain me how fine is it to play to loose an opening match of the worldcup tour!!

Lets start from the beginning. Holy crap! The quick single initiated by ganguly would have been indeed crazy enough if Sehwag was a little late in landing the foot. I dont understand. As if the collision may have caused an injury he tried to place the foot in the crease instead of the bat; shouldn't he be more serious about the match? or did he forget its the worldcup not a gully match he is playing. Ofcourse somepeople agree he is best suited for that. But what matters is Dravid thinks otherwise. Finally Sehwag got one thing right. He didn't miss the ball. He played it on to his stumps. Good enough for mortaza to throw the fists into air and millions of people to go silent and few people beside me to go haywire as they wanted him to depart as quickly as possible also from the team. Never seen much of this kid Uthappa, he looks promising. Liked his front foot shots leave alone the shot he played on the same front foot only to land the ball into the safe hands of Aftab ahmed.

Sachin and Ganguly were playing while we safely handed over the remote to football lovers to watch manUnited over Bolton not knowing how cheaply sachin can give up his wicket. He speaks about 2011 and Sir please tell us something about 2007. The ball is not turning much and what was he trying to do? looking for a single? He again falls for a left arm spinner while the ball which is almost a straighter one touches his bat to fall on to the pads and then into the wicket keepers hands. One of the softest dismissals in the match.

Dont let me get started on Dravid or even Dhoni. The best part is not to talk. I hope dravid too follows the same after the match. Does he even have a place to hide? Not on earth, maybe. Partnership between Yuvi and dada is something that gave life to the audience as well as the scoreboard. Another good innings from yuvraj who has just returned from an injury and dont forget his limited choice of shots while he playes the spinners. Still he managed to survive while the top order has collapsed. Dada is the top scorer. Its fine that he scored slowly given the situation but why 0 why did he say no to certain doubles and even some singles were turned down. Threes were converted into two's. May be he doesnt want another wicket to fall inform of runouts but thats pure neglegence towards the running between wickets. Ten to fifteen runs might have made a huge difference. Alas he has been the anchor of the lineup until he gave up like that. That was a clever delivery from Razzak seeing him charging down the pitch and in the end a good catch. bangla's were very good in the field. Managed to stop some spectacular shots from Yuvraj and saved nearly twenty runs.

I think oxford might add a word to dictionary 'indollapse' meaning the so-indian-alike-collapse which we get to see yet again this day. I sat there amidst the silent five hundred people watching the match in the open air theatre as dhoni looking for a single pushes the ball into the hands of Aftab while Agarkar adds another jewel to his extraordinary batting career by yet another duck and bajji carrying the hopes of dravid, who helds him highly whiletalking about the tail enders, only to find the late cut he tried to play was indeed very late to be played and ended up edging on the stumps to cheerup the already in high bangladeshi players.

159/8. So far so good. People started giving chorus to the dermi cool ad as the lady says tanda tanda cool cool and shouting ooooooh aaaaah india instead of the regular hoo haa india. Then we get a single and there was joy around as if they had never seen a single taken. A wide by mortaza was welcomed by another couple of ooohs and aaaahs. A four by munafs sweep shot(is it?) was getting the loudest of the cheers than what a young 'beautiful' woman cheering india received while shown on the screen. Last wicket partnership of 31 runs might have got some hope in the indian team which was shattered by the splendid batting performance by the seventeen year old Tamim who smashed the spineless bowling atatck all over the ground with agarkar rocking line and length and zaheers inconsistency. When does our bowlers learn that six good balls turn into a good over but not few good balls and few bad deliveries begged to be hit.

Munaf was ok with his spell but still the few bad deliveries and there goes the hope of indians not only the people watching but even the players on the pitch. It was clear by the body language of sachin and dravid. The fielding was usually casual. Couple of fours and a bunch of catches left for the bowlers distress. Haribajan lack of wicket taking ability... everything contributed by everyone towards the loss. Bangladesh played well and made indian play lokking bad. People who think bangladesh has won because india didnt play well.. go to hell! They outplayed india in every ascpect. Wonderful fielding, probably the age is doing wonders for them. They deserved a win and they got it.

I wonder how dravid comes out of this scenario. Does he alike Haq leaves it to God? I hope he doesn't.

Bottomline: Pitiable Decision after winning the toss. Pathetic Batting. Spineless Bowling attack with wonderful bowling changes (pun intended) and piteous fielding performances. India lose to the Bangladeshis who showed woderful spirit and composure. I wonder who are the kids? Indians or them? People who critisized for ICICI letting the minnows play the worldcup can now be satisfied with their performances I suppose. Pakistan out of the worldcup is something that makes today somewhat better. Hope Indians don't face the the similar situation coming week.

This defeat will definitely haunt us till the end how far we might go.

random 'heavy' junk

Overweight?
May be yes may be no! Lots of time to come up with innovative ideas and celebrate birthdays. May not be devilish as such but still, brutality at its best. It all started one fine day when Boblichiki gave me the name Indian Mohan. (Why? for readers who don’t have any idea let go of it. Such questions seem to be absolutely ridiculous if it has something to do with pulling ones’ leg).
The birthday celebration generally seems to be barbaric (while Anil goes ecstatic every time) but this time apart from that it was as if you were in a lunatic asylum. I was at the receiving end and yes it was sweet, surprising to certain extent and memorable. I did not expect some of the things to happen though I was aware of what was about to come. PSR and naveen were exceptionally enthusiastic in celebrating my birthday in a very different way and asusual naveen let out whats about to be a surprise(?) and i knew about the look of the cake before hand.

The process started when gangadhar called me to come up to naveens' room in D-wing. I was startled and confused; there were lot of people and its not the number that terrored but the flags. I never expected to see the flags. A cake similar to the colors in the flag is all i anticipated a few moments before i saw the cake but blame the free time, I have to face people carrying indian flags.

Almost everyone has a flag in the hand and were waving and infact started singing songs. A song has been composed mixing the songs from english hindi and telugu every song a patriotic one or somehow related to india. People lead by PSR were shouting mohan zindabad like hell and all I can do is stand and stare.Lots of laughter and lots of noise.People who were in the rooms came out and probably would have thought of some student political campaign. I couldnt talk people were not even listening to me or rather anyone. They were just concentrating on shouting and dancing. Everyone formed a circle around me and the cake and started running in the loop and dancing with the songs in the background.

Asked raj to forward the song and yeah this time I was allowed to cut the cake even before the bumps session. Eat and then get beaten up! Thats PSR singing while raj is watching and me cutting the cake and ofcourse people shouting carrying flags in hands. Then the usual, Rakesh's favourite, smearing of cake and this time my shirt was used to clean and wipe some of the hands but thankfully my hair was left out.

All this time one thing in my mind did they forget about bumps? I doubt it would ever happen even in my dreams.

After that started something i never expected to happen. One person carrying me on his shoulders and others singing in front of him like a goat being carried in the carnivals before sacrificing to gods. PSR and palakol were dancing infront as if they were drunk. It was scary keeping in mind my overweight and I have to accept the diligence of Raj to carry me like that.
Its not over yet!! then started the customary bumps session. Me along with my roommate got beaten up. Here we have this common tradition of beating up(!) the roommate along with the birthday dude. And people who are easy to lift also became a part of the slaughter especially anunag who is everyones 'easy' choice.

Time to wind up and people started leaving ofcourse after they had eaten the cake. I wash and the golagang didnt even give me time to change. We left for the canteen and a small party with people talking about eveything football, cricket, girlfriends and from naveen's hair problem to Deepu's love problem. Then again Deepu started to change the topic and targeted me and made evryone to salute me and this is how it happened - me and psr seemingly looking at something interesting similar to a pot belly.
Ofcourse it was followed by the salute which everyone ultimately wanted. And there are some other vital things happend which should be confined to the group and will be and hence not disclosed here. :P

PS: Thanks to everyone for making it wonderful and memorable.

Happy Deepawali

Take my word.. Children are intelligent in the issues concerning to procure whatever they need.

Recently, my brother when asked to pick 'one' from the shuttle racket that he was demanding from a loong time and the fire crackers for diwali, picked the racket without any hesitation which, according to my dad, left a horrendous look on my mom's face who made the offer. He sure is smart!!(Afterall he is my Bro..) My dad burst into laughter while narrating on the phone. My mom should know its not with me,who always was a *good boy* to leave everything for her choice, she is dealing with.

This doesnt stop with just 'things'. Last december I was at my sisters house and was talking to mom on phone telling her that I will be back starting tomorrow. Nephew of mine insisted on him talking on the phone and pestered me to handover the receiver and said "Padma, mama is not coming anywhere and will stay here" and hung up the phone with not more than a single word. I was taken aback! Even I dont call my mother with her name and he is just 3 years old!!! Finally he succeded in making me stay over there for three more days by using a lot of children's ways and using crying as the final option.

They have all their weapons ready to shoot at. They make their face look angry, sad, pleasing and almost everytime a stubborn face can be expected for sure if nothing works. They look so pleasant with any emotion they unknowingly try to puton with a smile on their face;everything would go their way.If the things are not going their way they always opt for the not-so-concealed weapon which everyone fears, further denying anyone from granting their wish. Ofcourse its the crying part!

ANd finally my Bro got the racket and ofcourse even the firecrackers. Its almost four years since I have enjoyed diwali time at home. We live in the same rented house since past twenty one years in a street which consists of almost six houses. Everyone accepted our intrusion into their lives as if we belong to their family and now its actually difficult to see us deseparate. Two of the houses consists of grandfathers and grandmothers whose children live far from them and its difficult to come home for every diwali. Since I was the only child in the street, I am the only one who used to enjoy all the crackers and most of the sweets.

I miss the serious looks my mom delivers as I accept the sweets offered by one of the grandmothers.
I miss my dad scolding me for not being careful and them backing me up asking my dad to shutup!!
I miss the night which was usually very long making me escatic and boast about the amount of crackers I lit, consisting of three packs one from my dad and the two from the other two families, back in school.
I miss my grandma who is always scared and keeps on repeating the same lines.. to be careful and always use a loong thread to light a bomb and so on....
I miss everyone and every part of my home right now!

Damn the nostalgia!I soo wish to be at home :((

I have never been able to churn out the long, verbose, grand greetings like those on the e-cards. so in a plain, simple way

"Happy deepawali". Have a fantastic and most importantly a safe day. Enjoy yourselves.

Things never to be given a shot

So for a change never watch movie's' and football videos and fall asleep on the night before the exam instead of slogging. You will(may) definitely end up

! answering the paper for the first 6 mins in which 4 mins 45 seconds are wasted reading the questions and the other 15 seconds to decide the questions to be attempted which virtually turn out to be zero albeit the ego which makes you attempt a question wasting another minute.

the next one hour forty minutes end

! calculating the relative writing speed of your fellow beings who are seriously penning down everything they know and something you dont know and probably will never know.

! counting the number of fans in the examination hall and may equalize them with the number of hairfollicles the invizilator has.

! notice someone who surprisingly looks gorgeous at that moment. Examtime is indeed weird.

! Hoping an end to the dreadful examtime, you look at the clock every fifteen minutes to notice the minute hand at the same position and the seconds hand making a swift 15 secs move and clinch your teeth with anger.

! (blank unromantic thoughts for sometime)

Last fifteen minutes..
You try to fill in the paper with some ink.

Winding up you look into your own paper once again and find something meaningful which is going to be latin and french to the professor.

Once you are out of the room, hearing people call the paper and prof with "special" names takes the edge off your inner side which feels guilty for not slogging. Otherwise you may end up cursing movies and football.

So why take chance?

Never try to change the habit of reading on the final day for the sake of change.

whats truth and whats not!

I found a post here which led me to a very funny blog which states many things reasonable(!!!) enough for the people who accept that as a legitimate source to believe Mahatma Gandhi considers Junior Bush to be a war criminal and Dear Leader Kim Jong Il to be the defender of the earth while Gandhi was actually assasinated long back. Neither my teachers told me Gandhi was a good predictor nor I read it in any of the books written about gandhi :( Man he should have been a helluva great foreteller to envision such things!!

People can use the Web to make 'people' believe Arsenal lashed the hell out of Manchester United as their striking pair Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar scored thrice and people actually fight against each other to have their say in who is gonna remain in the Arsenal team!!! And dictators are using the opportunity to the fullest. Ok if we get on this issue further, even media can be(come) a culprit.

Not patient enough to go throuh that post, then this is what I found. Check it out, I don't think I disappoint you.
Whats the truth and how can I believe something I see in the everyday newspaper is indeed real?I fear these thoughts which makes me get back to the unfinished movie!!

Now dont doubt me whether I am actually watching a movie or not.

We need no education of this kind

I consider myself lucky to spend my school life in a single school without any change. Change of friends, place, rules, ambience and change of teachers. The teachers who had taught me abc of everything from rhymes, sciences, fun and the outside world are someone special in my life. They know me, my nature and my next move in a game(atleast some of them). This is the case with almost everyone in the class. They knew everyone from their name to their favourite actor. For our batch, "they" consists primarily of sadasiva sir, hanumanth sir, kenneth sir and hindi sir.

Ten years of our life; our parents felt relieved to have them. They taught us everything... being kind, helping others, to know our rights and duties, pinpointing the mistake, fun and discipline. Sadasiva sir is simply known for the discipline while hanumanth sir and hindi sir always backed us. Kenneth sir never took a side and never directly blamed us instead he used to tell real life stories which made us realise the mistake from our side. We did make mistakes and were scolded and shown the wrath of the stick but that was all after reasoning out everything behind the mistake;what led to the mistake and further decided to teach us wrong and right but its not treated as a punishment unless and untill the mistake is intentionally done. And there is no discrimination between the top student and the below average student. Sadasiva sir used to have a very exceptional habit of nicknaming each and every student in the class and those were really funny and some are objectable but who cares! Ofcourse there is an unspoken rule that students shouldnot tease eachother calling the nicknames that were given by sir. Now we chid among ourselves calling eachother with those names. If a student is somehow at the receiving end in the school then he can be assured that he is gonna get the same yet again and now from parents. If a teacher has punished my son he has done something terrible is the idea parents had and those were the days. Those teachers are with us from the starting of our life and the relationship that existed between us is something special which makes us to consider their view in a fatal decision even now.

But now, its all different. Students nowadays doesnt even know teacher's name and knowing every pupils name has become difficult for present day teacher. The school has become big, not in a small way, but in every possible way. The student number has gone into thousands and the buildings and classrooms are increased and the strength of teachers is increased. The only thing that has been decreased on paper was the ground area. People like me crib over that when we meet our teachers and they laugh saying parents are not interested to send children to a school which has more gaming facilities. The important of all is the relationship between teacher and the student which is deteriorating with the years. Parents fighting with the management whenever the teacher scolds the pupil for a purpose and students knowing their rights without having any idea of the duties makes everything even worst. World has changed and the attitude is changed and I dont have any idea if this kind of primary education is going to help the little children, who are now waiting outside the principal office for an admission , down the lane after few years.

That was all about the essential education and coming to the higher education, its even worse. Professor doesn't care for anything except the one hour he uses to teach. Its fine now. We are grownups and there is no need to spoon feed or whatever the reason is from their side. But I hear something from a professor who taught us and I am glad i didnt take his course. He blurted out saying students below 3 dont understand the rules.(Our CPI system is based on four point scale). Its not out of anger, he has time to think but still he accused students based on their level according to him which I have never seen in my childhood and these guys have done Phd's :((
Its not that Phd has something to do with commonsense but still a professor has to be a teacher initially and I go nuts thinking further. He is concerned with the exam timetable he has prepared for the institute and now insists on punishing the students who has taken courses from a particular group(after taking the permission from the respective prof's) which will definitely clash. He calls on a meeting not for resolving the problem but to decide the punishment. Reasoning behind the mistake is not a concern which as a teacher is primary according to me while he is deciding the future of someone.

Now that particualr child who is in the principal office if been given admission may later become a professor similar to this prof. Such professors are not to be given a chance;for that the world should revert to the normal state where teachers used to be teachers and students used to be students and education used to be education rather than everything being a business and ego satisfaction being the primary concern.

Sometimes I hate being myself.

Ghostly cows and deadly dogs!

Pretty weird month; august of 2006 is rememberable, atleast will be remembered by we three - deepu, anunag and myself.

The first week, initially spent loiterring around the college 24/7 sprang to life as the registration date came up and made most of us here in the college run to and fro to the bank. Most of the guys are still at home and sent the dd's or left the cheque books so that we can draw the money and pay for them. There must be some unknown chemistry between me and the bank guys. A problem awaits everytime I need the job to be done immediately and by gods grace if they are not going to create one, I create it myself.

I woke up a bit early in the afternoon that day and in a trance found the total amount that is to be drawn and filled an already signed blank cheque by subhash and left for the bank. After I handed over the cheque to the cashier, I noticed something which at that instant I wished and prayed she wouldn't notice. Alas, she did and was startled to find something really really interesting; afterall its my birthdate in the date coloumn of the cheque. I cursed myself, laughed and said "ohhh! it should be 2006 not 1986" and she laughed in return(that hurts) and asked me to get it right and also get the signature of the owner of the cheque who is in Hyd at that time!!! Cleared the mess by transferring the money to anunag's account and got the money in time. ICICI guys are really fast.

The second week, the first week of the classes and nothing much except the confusion over compiler design prof who declared compiler to be a hardware and found a sudden increase in the inflow to that particular elective. Everyone wants to have a break in the final year and prof's are making lives much simpler. That saturday, I along with deepu, anunag and psr went to ahmedabad and it was late in the night while we were returning. It started to drizzle and the view through the helmet's glass was blurred. Should have stopped the bike and cleaned it up. Should have searched for a handkerchief and wiped it up. Should have stopped for a while for the rain to stop. Neverthless we went on dashing through, finally ending up head butting a lonely cow on the heavenly highway.

It came from nowhere, all of a sudden. The last thing I heard was anunag shouting but couldnt see anything. The last thing I saw and understood was I am the special someone, unlike zidane, who has got the opportunity to headbutt the cow. It could have been the path to heaven or hell if there were other vehicles behind us. It was a sigh of relief to find everyone safe with almost no injuries!! Hopefully, let it be my first and last accident. The very next day, the sumo we were travelling almost killed a cow which came onto the road all of a sudden!! I just hate gujarati cows. They dont seem to have an idea to follow the minimum traffic rules.

Into the third week of the month and I decided not to leave the college, not even if kiran more promises to take ganguly into the team. Little later that week, I discovered that it is useless to take ridiculous decisions. In the last month there were nights when we found dogs sleeping on empty beds but this time I found something soft enough under my feet to wake me up looking in to two glowing eyes gazing calmly at me. Imagine to be in a forest with all the animals with glowing eyes surrounding you!!The only one way out of the room is blocked by the dog which just kept staring as if I am unnecessarily creating a scene while everyone in the room is sleeping quite peacefully till then. The little shreak I made was enough for my roomy to be awake and we both stared at each other!! Infact it three of us staring at each other for sometime, neither of us moving an inch. The dog felt awkward and tried to open the door to leave the room but couldnt open the damn door. It took nearly fifteen minutes for me to open the door hanging by the wall while balancing on the couch and letting the dog out of the uncomfortable situation. Its really a bad idea to open the door and sleep for the fresh air :( and I hate daiict dogs too. Not even having the minimum commonsense to knock the door before pushing and coming in.

The final week of the month and the sluggish nature imparted obliviously by the very idea of being a final year student slowly and gradually let me into a kind of state reminding me of this post by Ritesh. Its apparently dull and its almost a month I am actually away from the internet!! Hibernation as he says, and the reason for the state is unknown. Stopping any work in the middle and watching five to six movies in four hours, playing games and restarting at the very first goal against my team, trying to open the browser and closing as soon as it prompts for the password.... genuinely this month is real real bad. I even forgot my bro's birthday and my dad had to convince him to talk on the phone. Sometimes brothers are real stubborn and August turns out to be ghastly this year!!

The so called Research Internship days

Life is beautiful!

How can something be so beautiful and so repulsive at the same time; alternating between the potentially-so-important days which decide our life and future, and carefree days when one has nothing to do with the freedom of sleeping whenever we wish. These two months of so called holidays remain to be something that i can never remember.

The research internship, if it is what they call "research internship" as to wake up at 6 in the evening and sleep in the early hours of the day making good use of the remaining hours to watch friends and spend the rest of the time in the canteen discussing about the possibility of death of arjun singh (if its the only reason the idea of reservation can come to a halt), the thoughts pondering over the rise in the cpi's (the displeasing standard of measuring the students) of every couple around and why dont we have a 1:1 male-female ratio, having a go at deepu's bizzare skills in singing, listening to palakol's escapades including all the proposals he made, people still talking to me about ganguly, incessant drizzling over here which was enjoyable during the first few days and later desolating the ambiance.... ahhhh i started to hate rain, people discussing about the mock scores and the hottest topic remains to be... no not at alll the girls but the increasing dog population here and why is that.. will let you know.
Life sucks!!!!

Can you even imagine a dog sleeping on the bed resting it's (sry, animal lovers. his/her's) head over the pillow? And gleefully that pillow remains to be on one of the beds in one of the rooms in one of the wings in the hostel which should be a place for a student to rest his head on. It happens only in daiict and many more likely things happen over here.

Deepu singing the song from kaante and if you think its as normal as it can be, yes it is as normal as pamela anderson's wedding attire.

Fountain in the middle of the canteen springs into life only if the drizzling turns out to be a downpour and we enjoy the sight of it in the rain. Seriously!!!!

There is something special about the couples in daiict. Not only the students who turns out to be studs after coupling up, but even the profs!! The management is making sincere (as they say) attempts to increase the faculty and yeah its pretty clear how sincere they are by choosing prof's wife or prof's husband(yet to happen) to be included in the teaching staff. Why the hell they dont get to think about making students come to the classes? atleast then they can find out the imbalance and my juniors in the later years can all be studs with the 1:1 ratio as that is the only possible perception that our present management can intutively get on. I cant forget the economics tutorials with 100% attendence for the obvious unmentionable reason.

The sprinklers on the weekends sprinkling water all over the lawns. Its the state of absolute normalcy if its not raining here continuously over the past few weeks forming sort of small ponds in the very lawn with the sprinker on. Now its like watching people who are so much obsessed with gardening that they start to water the plants by holding a red umberella in one hand and the water pipe in the other while the rain god enjoys his time.

This is not my research area, but still these are research internship days and one has to stick to very rule that what ever he do, he has to be sincere. Few more days to go, let me start my research internship!

Things never to be given a shot

Never ever try to sleep in a room which is cordially decorated with the posters of *u-know-who* infront of the bed.

Dont even think of sleeping in a room with two pc's and two of your friends watching FRIENDS on each with the headphones on and who cannot hear their own laughter.

Sid smashes and Raghu lifts it unknowingly and even places perfectly. After a looooong night, am still awake to stomach something and see what i found in todays hindustan times!!!! Indian Govt. blocked blogspot or should i say in its terms, it stopped terrorists from talking to each other via blogs and truly they are going to face some serious communication problems due to the superduper act initiated by the Govt. and could stop (blog)terror for a while. What the heck is this!!!!

Not long time ago i thanked God for me not being in Pakistan after watching the news of blogspot being blocked and restricted there. But seriously, we are a democratic country... come on, freedom of speech ka kya hua bhaaaai? After this profane act, i am curious about the blogs I read and while surfing through the RSS feeds, what made the government to take that (ridiculous to U and Me) step? may be

!!the content like TOI( Times Of India aka Toilet of India aka Terrorists of India)

!!SIMI(that pooor guy was referring to Priyanka Chopra in Bluff Mater and was arrested)

!!Abu (Looks like the Govt. e-police left the "Mt." before Abu and are wading through the archives to find the info about Mr.Abu salem)

!!Mafia (I seriously doubt boblichiki aka Rahul is a terrorist now. He is the one who made me play that game and explained the rules of that game and i read the info in numerous blogs. And rahul shifted to Hyd recently. Skeptical enough)

!!
.Mao is great! tsk tsk.... (that post continues as far as I rememeber)
.Bong doctor is good. He says we should meet him every week there.
( My goodness!!! for godsake, HE who has decrypted that should have been the security protocols TA for us)

!!I am not visiting Andaman or rather any other island.Waste of time. (Anonymous blogger as a comment to post containing the above point and hence no ban in Andaman and Lakshadweep)

!!I remember this guy mentioning something seriously about Cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine.

Now i see the interests of the Govt. in blocking the blogspot and the freedom.

I support the government (w)hole-heartedly.By seezing the freedom of speech they can clearly create a communication gap and the terrorists giveup their intentions as they are unable to read others blogs and particularly mine. (yaar i mentioned SIMI and Abu and I even know rdx formula!). There will be no need for our jawans to fight against anyone. What they need to do is Sit, Block, Eat, Block, Sleep...Block even in sleep.

Final word: Am never going to vote!

Choice is yours.

Our name may not be our choice, but it is something we have to live with all our life, like it or not, choice that is not ours - she is absolutely right.Later, we make and are made to make many choices that change our life, mayit be the right or wrong choice. There will be times when we get caught between the right and the bad chocie; It appears to be right if its my choice alone and absolutely wrong or may we call it a bad choice, if i am a proffesional representing someone or say a country. But, that is what that matters is the thin line between my own preference or the whole countrys'. The thin line that separates the good from the bad, the gods from the humans, the great from the better, the right from the wrong; Zizou is no more a God.

I firmly believe something very bad has been said on the pitch to zizou and whoever doesnt, (can) skip the further part.

Yes this is all about how he made up his mind to head-butt materrazzi no matter what happens though he knew the consequences of his act.Is it the righteous act to commit? A player at his prime time who knew that was his last chance to do something for what he loves the most(Ok i am taking granted he do love his passion). Lets forget about France loosing the worldcup for sometime. Even the france sports minister crtisized him and he is not alone. Cribbing over what to tell the millions of children who love him and want to be like him? Now that love for being alike of zidane is a choice that particular child makes. And thats his own choice; if he prefers to choose the wrong side of zidane then its the fault of teachers or his parents or gaurdians or his own self who taught him to choose. Arent we taught to take only the good even from gandhi?

Zizou has preffered his own choice that seemed to be right at that time, keeping aside the benifits if he hasnt preffered his own self making it clear he is no more a God. I do support what he did. As deepu stated zizou couldn't stand the abuse whatever it is, and he made that clear to everyone pushing all his fans and the homeside to agony. But still i dont see anything wrong, he may be a proffessional as said by Psr, but still he is a human and he has his own preferences and has made his choice. The thin line was blanced more by his self-esteem.

Dont the movie actors represent the country? I will take that nod as an yes. Arent they followed? Arent they treated as idols by the children and the youth? Is the nod a big Yes? Then why are they portraied to kill people who have done something wrong to them or the country(a sudden thought of sunny deol) on the screen? Why are there fights if someone abuses or illtreats someone they care for(ranging from people to any statue) on the screen? What i wanted to point out is that, we dont care about them being shown as heroes killing someone though we know there may be chances of them being followed. We leave the choice of what to be followed and what not to, to the choice of the children or the parents. The parents guide the children which movies to watch and what not to... then why not they teach them to learn the good from zizou and treat it as a good example of the conditions that need a little bit more patience and especially how to choose the right choice. But still, if the child believes his self has been wounded and that was prior to anything other for him, I say zizou's act will be repeated and its absolutely not wrong.

Zizou was playing for the country, for the millions of his fans and for HIMSELF. I dont think there is a need for him to apologize to the children; Yes he has to feel sorry for the nation and his teammates whom he has let down by his act which costed them the worldcup, but neither the children nor the fans. The only wrong about his act was them loosing the cup and i feel the better side didn't win. (Better team by dropping the coach from the team)

Update:This post has been written even before zidane talked to the media and not published tho' for more updating work. :D

Give it up

Whoever is reading this and this post, don't be one of them, atleast try not to be!!You may not be one among that billion at this moment but sure you would(may) be the next. A new chapter in the Indian cricketing history, a major series win over the team ranking eighth after shocking loss in the one day series. Media suddenly forgot all the previous tests that were close enuff to win and started praising the teams victory to be historic.

Yeah cut the crap and see the positives-- inveterate fan.

Accepted, but what about the oneday series and the two tests that were close; in one, with three overs remaining and one wicket to claim and the other, requiring a huge total to chase but the only thing that went wrong was the attitude; attitude of the captain and the team.It may not be possible according to dravid who refers to history but atleast giving it a try is not that bad to think keeping in mind that the wicket was good enough to bat. Going to carribean with a team full of youngsters, a move eyeing the worldcup has gone wrong comletely and chappell has to reconsider his every step right now.Selecting venugopal rao and keeping laxman aside, leaving out zaheer and dinesh mongia; whatever the team is and whoever is selcting the team, i am rather curious about the selction process now. zaheer banged a 9 wicket haul and dinesh mongia having a very good season, may it be the county cricket but performance is what that matters and thats what we are doing.... celebrating a win over a team ranking eighth.

This series may have added a page in the indian cricketing history after 35 years but still clearly shows how good we are, out of the subcontinent!! Dravid as a batsmen is simply superb all over the series but as a captain, i may be a bit harsh but i seriously cant accept him being the captain anymore after seeing the field placements and, handling the pressurised stiuations(as a captain) demand something more like what we have seen in the tests, all what we need is a wicket and munaf patel 'may be' the chocie but sreesanth!!!!!!

we want more, more from the gods. aren't they?

Placement fever

Life these days has been exciting to say the least if not fun. These placement days has shown me a lot of drama, suspense, tragedy and action. Nothing romantic. Finally, its over. After two and half weeks of melodrama I finally made it into Infosys. It all started very early just 10 days after the sem exams. I dunno why, but I worked on my resume ‘n’ number of times as if my future is tied to it. The Personal achievements column in the resume is something I couldn’t get and I took almost four hours to fill it up. Is it what we think as personal achievement or what companies expect us to achieve since childhood? I had one and only one option to fill it up. Friends!

And I know it should be filled with something that makes sense to the senseless ppl and am left with no options rather than writing something seriously stupid.

On the very first day, after the Mindtree test any doubts of me having a little knowledge of C are thrashed to hell and I felt like another akthar being bashed by sachin. Like any other DA-IICTian I thought the company doesn’t have the luck to have me there working for them and slept peacefully.

The next day when I woke up I was a bit frantic about Infosys. I dunno why I was so despo about a company shipping people but still the feeling of me getting over the technical test sent shivers through the spine. Thankfully they had an aptitude test and nothing technical. I never stood before the notice board to watch my name, be it to search for results or to find my name in the flunked list. But this time I was there sweating in the hot sun to see my name in the list that is to be announced. The result was soon released and the list was not showing my name and that was a heartbreaking moment! But it was a moment of relief when I was told about the other lists that are to be put up in few mins and there I am waiting hopefully and atlast after seeing my name and the time of the interview, rushed to my room, took a quick bath and then into the formals quickly and search for a belt and then the shoes. I never felt so awkward standing in the formals with shoes but sigh of relief when almost every known person in the college is in formals and it looked as if I am in some primary school. Finally after the interviews and a looong session of announcing the final list, party time and almost 153 students made into it. Calls to home and srinu and I am thankful to all who wished me success.

Am I happy? Yes I am!!!! Because more than me getting a job, the ordeal is finally over. If its not that day, I am confident about me being jobless after the total placement process. Every other company asking for the technical knowledge and without any preparation, for students who just carryon the baton by the grace of friends who teach before the exams and one day batting, it’s a huge blow to ask the inner and outer joins or the triggers in SQL or number of pins 8085 chip has.

Apart from placements, the temperature here after the placements has suddenly gone down and I deleted my orkut account. It was predecided and not an imitation. I will definitely return but need some time and Loong sessions of sleep and bakar and lots of leg pulling!! and lots of pathetic movies like fanaa, tenth class and some good movies. Life seems to be okay :)

Tag -3

This is not the first time I was tagged... but this is the first time I am going to answer a tag. FYI, I am not comfortable with these outdoor games or sports, leave alone cricket and running is out of my dictionary. That day we had 100mts sprint and I was standing there watching and was betting on the winner. I just came to know, I am gud at guessing. There is this Sir who called me up and asked me to join the row as one person is missing and participate in the event. Sir, u have to be kiddin.. Me and sprint. No way!!! And I was startled to hear sir announcing Mohanchandra Kodali is going to participate!!!!!! Sirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr was the shrill cry. None to rescue and had to get into it finally. Here goes the whistle and there goes the sprinters, along comes a sluggish participant. I was just a “few” feet away from the base line and heard my frnd shouting U WON, U WON, U WON, U WON!!!!!!!!!

Whaaaat on earth…. u won the bet man! How ignorant can intelligent people be!!!!!! Alas if he had seen a cricket match screened by Doordashan with hindi commentry on. I would bet; any person let it be a psycho or cynic or even a dementor who doesn't know the word "laugh" and even the feeling, starts laughing instantly as he/she/it hears the live 'hindi' commentry.

guess what it would have been if its the other way round with hindi commentators initiating.

"aajka mausam bada achaa hain... aarahe hain sehwag aur dravid opening kanekeliye. jin darshako ne abhi abhi TV on karke dekhrahe hain unkeliye: India toss jeethkar batting karne ka nirnay kiya aur viru, dravid opening kar rahe hain. What he needs is just the batsmen trying to hit a shot, connected or not is least bothered. I definitely can say there would be many people who would just abuse him for just a few sec's though.. may be abuse is a big word to use here.

It was funny to have Maninder, et al. giving their commentary watching television in the studios. They had no idea of where the fielders were, and everytime Sehwag hit the ball in the air…poor maninder has no idea if it is a four, a six or its a catch or a drop catch!!

Every other time the commentator speaks out, I bet u can hear achha khasa ball or achaa khasa shot or even achhaa khasa fielding and and and achaa khasa decision! hadd hain ye tho. Its really funny to watch cricket on DD in the TV room here pushing ,smelling each others sweat, the TV room being packed with everyone bunking the classes and labs for the most liked sport in India. And if sehwag or yuvi is singing, you can hardly find a palce to fit in ur little finger and also the increase in humidity that makes us all,in the room, breathing water in air.Though the room is filled with the stiffled smell of sweat,we love it... we love it to be there, the smell being the sweating smell of hope for a six or a wicket, we love being a part of cricket.

Is it the most irritating part when watching cricket on DD? as far as I am concerned "No".. atleast i have reasons to laugh at.Anyway I dont understand why people hate criket? Atleast after such commentry we should love the game. :P The intelligent person may accept that this game,to be specific the commentry, can help some forget-to-laugh souls to get back to normal state.

The bank employees

The holidays went on smoothly with the unsual change in the daily routine while the college reopened and PSR reminded me of the passport application that was lying in his desk unopened. And we both filled the forms and still i coudnt figure the reason behind the 3 xerox copies that were asked for submission! let it be. Here started the real pain in the ass. We started on to get a DD. Gandhinagar is a well planned city having all the banks in a single sector and that shouldn't be a problem. ICICI was the first and having an account is compulsory to get a DD. I as a common man coudnt get this! some business point?(may be). Anyway the very next was the indian bank and we went in asking for the DD forms and an unexpected harsh reply as if i was asking his daughter for a date! The next scene;we were out of that closed room and now entered the Syndicate and what an amazing view for the customers. The building looked as if it is the remains of a tomb with a lot of paper buried instead of gold and silver. Finally we got hold of the DD forms and filled them, all three of them(one for our frnd), and the cashier gave us a wierd look and asked to fill these in a separate form and bring bak to him!!!!!! We couldnt get a bit of that and asked him to repeat and the situation never changed. Not knowing what to do we came out of the tomb realizing the lack of dead bodies there and the bank people trying to fill that space with the customers.

Finally decided to try our luck for the last time, entered the Punjab National bank and asusual we found noone at the "May I Help U" counter. To our relief the DD forms were out there hanging and they even pasted a copy of a form. We filled and tried to submit in the counter "chow". There was this elderly person(EP) and PSR handed over the forms and here starts the comic show. EP asks PSR about his bank account and PSR unknowingly spills about his ICICI bank account and all of a sudden EP shows his rage.

EP: "You maintain an account there and all the benfits to them while the clerk work is being done by us. Why should we do? We do this work freely for our customers and why dont they"

PSR: "Sir the problem is i am having an A/C in Hyd and they need a cheque book for the DD...

EP: Why do they need a cheque book. we do without that!

Me(in my mind): How the hell do I know about the reasoning behind their rules. I am not the bank GM

PSR: Sir those rules were set by them.. what can we do!!

EP: so you accept its a "gundha" bank then why do you maintain an account in such a bank? they even dont have 800 branches all over india.. and we have some xxxxx branches...

Me: Its almost lab time and we even dont know whther he is going to give us the DD after all this class

PSR: that is okay sir but now...

EP interrupts: Ask that mam there... points towards an officer there

Me: God plzz save us... atleast let ma'm be sensible enough

Ma'm: Whats wrong? are u students?

PSR: Yes mam and we came here for a DD and he says(pointing to the counter chow) we can't as we dont have an account here... (rather his problem is having an ICICI account).

Ma'm: (speaks over in gujarathi) You guyz go there and you can get the DD's.Its an order.

Me: Thanks god for the lady power. Laughs silently, unseen ofcourse.

submits the form and a wait for the DD. And again.. these bank guyz are really serious and they can go on blabbering better than us!!!

EP: See you know that ICICI is a gundha bank phir bhi waha account rakthe ho!!!

PSR: (with the wtf-look on his face) Sir, We are paying the extra charges and moreover my frnd(myself) doesnt have an account there...

EP: leave the DD.. we have many facilites for the students. You can get free DDs for the fee you pay.....

Me: Gawwwwwwwwwwwwwd!!! why did you leave us all of a sudden! plzz come back.

PSR: Sir the problem is during the admissions ICICI came over there and ur bank didnt and so we have our accounts there...

EP: See you can close the accounts there and open brand new accounts here...

Me: wtf!! about to leave in an year and now again the headache from the scratch!!!! God where are you

To our relief our DDs were signed and handovered with a lauffable joke of asking to remember them after leaving INDIA.

can anyone forget such a memorable experience!!!!

PS: This was my first DD. (that was dealt by me)
No harm intended in the post! Neither every employee is harsh nor the harsh behaviour is witnessed everyday. It was mere bad experience.

Of the holiday cricket, a Spectacular match and the bank employees

Well, the last week was real good... got to see lot of people in the early mornings around 9 AM which is the natural seeping time here and ofcourse a lot of cricket too. No misunderstandings plzz!!!! its neither Crciket 2002 nor the 2004 version but the actual cricket that is played in our very own ground with the help of a half bat,an intact bat without a crack,a ball, three stumps and a chair and ofcourse 16 students. even a kindergarden stud in INDIA knew the no of players required to play but thank god atleast sixteen are out there in the ground moving the lazy buts around to field, bowl and run instead of sticking their asses to the chairs playing over lan, or watching friends and movies least bothered even to drink a glass of water. special thanx to all cricketing freaks out there who ran around the hostel calling every possible alive person. watching all the dropped catches and the runouts and the exhaustive time outs(yeah ur reading a post on cricket) after every double and if its me the timeout would be the very next of a single, we concluded to play on the alternate dayz rather than stressing ourselves everyday for two hours.Engineering really turned the things around; cricket, which can move even the dead souls in INDIA, isn't able to move these guyz from the videogaming and the movies and the internet. Anyway going out into the ground turnedout to be better, infact best rather than watching the movies or sticking to the net or the dead, dull and boring test series. The dull test series and the excitment of the holiday cricket remained to be starters while the actual treat was the greatest one-day ever played.

You think u are the luckiest soul on earth? and if your answer to the question of watching the final one-day between Aus and SA is a big NO, then you are one among the unluckiest bunch of few wierd species. The most unbelievable game ever witnessed and the game of records, shall i say unbreakable records? After watching the enormous total put on the board by the aussies, I thought about the mental pressure and how weak the proteas would be and to my utter disbelief they chased such a huge total!!!!!! and their body language just demonstrated the wonders a positive mind can do. A real show by the batsmen hitting the ball all around into air that made it a bad bad bad day for the bowlers. And the unluckiest guyz and gals, watch it!! ESPN has gone crazy(it should be) and you can view the match if you switch the boring serials for a breathtaking game.Still if you cant get it, we have it on the hard disk!

Tha bank employees will be continued in the next post as I dont want readers to close this page after viewing the length of the post.

A week free from restricitions

Smiles around while coming out of the SP class, talking about the "homework" we were to submit by 22nd and the gleeful gestures of the prof contrary to his portrayed character and also about the quiz;the prof says and believes and might be hoping it to be a surprise quiz while we were guessing the questions goin to be quizzed from the last night. Thats two quizzes in a row and missing the first, I spent a sleepless-so-boring-night(leave alone the football match and the blog) to attend the class. :-) Thats the last class before the holidays and now am enjoying the dayz.

Lot of gaming and lots of movies and the sleepless nights for chitchatting have occupied the place of tensions and SEN's boring fundas.Everything changing, the temperatures droppin as the climate varied substantially, no classes, no labs, no alarms, no dead lines, no submissions.... all of a sudden, I love this world and wish it to be forever the same as it is now. These days, moving around gandhinagar and ahmedabad a lot. The bird flu has shown its effect. Its almost one week I ate food in the college. aalu paratha and the snacks being the only replacables,as i hate the veg items that are available here, am helping the Salt and pepper(a small hotel) waala to grew a bit richer. I got to know some interesting things about the indo-pak partition and Jinnah.

awaiting that is in store for me in this week.

dejected, gloomy angry and fun

That was me in the past few dayz! may it be the Discomp mark sheet or the missed pop quiz, may it be the fight about ganguly or the sudden flames out of subhash's monitor(i was using it), may it be the pending work or the sudden laughs, I was out of my mood... feeling lonely irritated by the slightest talk, shouting at every possible thing, making fun of myself. feeling down, making hopeless efforts to make myself comfortable with the atmosphere here. hurting many, aware of some;sry mate, I was a bit rude u-know-where.

i need a break to cope up with all this, to be normal again, back to my senses and here comes our midterm break, just a week full of joyful holidays!!!! is it? having the SEN project, the DesignProject, the discomp project and marketing final presentation and now comes SP into the picture(with due respect to AnishMaturia) with an assignment to be submitted the very next day to the end of holidays.. is it rt to be called a break!!!!! i prefer a loudd YES here. I would love to do things anytime I wish and this break gives me such an opprtunity. drafting this, i went wandering around the campus in the early morning. Its beautiful to be awake in the early morning watching the pigeons moving away from the corridors noticing the time as if they knew our schedule, feeling the pleasant early breeze, and all of a sudden it started to drizzle.. there is nothing more I could wish!! walking alone in such atmosphere is rejuvenating while watching arising sun never ceases to be a wonderful experience. I hope this feeling would last a bit long and i want myself to be quiet and calm, better stop talking!

and the best part of this week remains to be today when Arsenal made it into the champions league quarters crashing down the hopes of Real madrid Galacticos.Keeping aside the slow pace of Ronaldo, despair of the fans, its their lack of coordination in the last match and the bad luck and bad finishes in the second encounter with Arsenal turned out to be the actual reasons for their dismissal from the league.Wactching the second match in Arsenal homeground, goalless as it was, but its fun as both teams had done far better than the first. I was one among those thrusting fists into air merrily at 3.20 AM shouting in the TV room, least bothered about the people sleeping around. The missed popquiz ringing alarm bells, I was away from the discussions analyzing how unsatisfactory Reyes played and how splendid Lehman and his counter part played. but, here I am bloggin while the goddess of sleep nowhere in the near sight and anything new is something special!!!! isn't it? and my blog is brand new. needless to say i am loving this.

just now heard from our sen group that the test cases are done and the keys are back and i am awake and the SP class is abt to start in few mins. things turning out my way?

Nothing like weekend

The title may sound as if i had a great weekend, but mind you it may sound even in a different way. There are people who dont care about weekends or rather they have no idea about weekends or weeknds are not a "special" part of their life.

Do i sound senseless and aloof ? may be you are lucky enough to be counted among those people who enjoy the weekends; atleast there is something special about your weekend, may it be blissful or miserable. I prefer to join the people(many from our coll for sure) who believe there is nothing like weekend not literally!!. Even here we can have two clans(infact more than two--- after giving it a min thought). India had been a state of various clans and ....what not! This is no exception and some of these clans :

i) Hardworking n Sincere
Though we have only five working days(damn) and this semester has been providing us with a lot of holidays, these people still can't find time to "civilize" --term you can(should) find a new definition in my dictionary. Though they have this urge to socialize, our proffessors are guarding their mind, soul and everything in this student life like dementors guarding the azkaban. While the problem there is of the very existence of voldemort, here the problem is the absence of such voldemort. To them there is nothing like weekend. It hardly makes a difference.

mind you I am not critisizing the ppl but the "system".How on earth could one person complete the Programming assignment while he is to worry about the hardware lab that is to be completed by tomorrow and the communication problems, the nightmares are omnipresent.

ii) I AM GOD LIKE
These people doesn't belong to this place, atleast they themselves believe this and hence they can be anywhere, anytime, anyway they wish;may it be a lecture or a lab or a cultural programme or anything unless its not a part of this place. There is nothing like days and dates and can we expect them to be aware of weekends!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iii) gamers
Frustrated by the atmosphere here, they prefer to be in the room rather than moving out in the sun. See them, talk to them, listen to them, feel their presence. Alas,Thank god if it happens on some sunny day but such instances can happen iff you are awake while the ghosts wander. I fear if they can bear the brightness of a mere lightray after being used to that of the monitors and stars. No fear, no responsibilites, no assignments, no labs and finally no weekends. These people are very important nowadayz in our institute as our Dean Mr.CP is initiating steps towards cutting out the LAN to reduce the impact of gaming and to transfigure these souls into bigshots.

Is the lan the real culprit or their lack of interest in "those" that our CP is looking at. clueless..
never ending debate is goin on..

iv) radha aur krishna
The couples. Though every day is special its the weekends that they look for! ( how do I know, is the right question. Did you watch irobot?) nothin much to be penned down here.. am sure they love these weekends.

v) The idle chatters
I find them everywhere. Obssessed with everything in the world from aish to any other gurl, Lalu to Bush, Saddam to Laden, Ganguly to Sachin(Can't i ever leave this topic!Uhh) Though they find no much difference between weekends and other dayz, still they look out for the weekends. Sit in a room. Look over the monitor where the game is going on and start the blabbering. Its fun man!!!! real fun.Discussing, fighting, becoming sentimental, and and and the BETS.. how many did u win? last but not the least LEG PULLING Thats the real funny part that makes up the weekend.

and these days AnishMaturia is in my dreams during the weekends with his "really really surprising quizzes" and i guess i need a good night sleep to attend his class tomorrow. Its worth it!

btw do tell me howz ur weekend?

finally am back

The first one, in the second and hopefully the last!

Joining the crowd right there discussing everything under the sun...
